Signing for the Fans

Baseball cards depicting a treasured ballpark experience

The story behind this collection

There is something special about fans, especially children, getting an autograph at the ballpark. The opportunity to interact with one’s heroes and take away a tangible souvenir from that experience is often among the greatest memories from childhood.

Countless baseball cards have been produced over many decades that portray the ballpark autograph experience. All types of baseball personalities have been shown in this manner; minor leaguers to Hall of Famers; players and managers; pitchers, catchers and players of every position.

The modern hobby is a world of condition-sensitivity, manufactured scarcity, professional grading and the difference between hundreds or thousands of dollars being the numerical grade assigned by a third-party grader. In such an environment this collection is particularly enjoyable to assemble as it is affected very little by these outside influences. While a handful of these cards are found at a premium, the majority have been acquired for less than a dollar. And because the focus is on the image and not the player, set, condition or rarity, every card is of equal importance.

This site is dedicated to my collection of these cards and is meant for nothing other than to bring a smile to your face and perhaps rekindle a memory of your own ballpark experiences.

There is no official checklist for this collection and one will never be complete. But with each new addition to the collection, images will be added to the site and the checklist on the site will be updated. I hope you enjoy viewing my collection and perhaps will be inspired to start one of your own.

I encourage you to reach out with your comments via the contact button. I always enjoy talking cards with other collectors.

Thank you,
